Parfum d'été

Parfum d’été (A Scent of Summer)

Robin Grenon – Gisèle Guibord, Celtic harps
Patrick Graham, percussions

This eighth CD by our duo, founded in 1996, is a celebration of 18 years of great complicity! It compiles some of the works that have been a part of our musical journey: Parfum d’été, La médiévale, Mélopée japonaise, and more recent ones: The Franciscan Suite and The Northern Lights Guarania, the latter premièred at the Ottawa Northern Lights Harp Fest in 2013. Our warm thanks to Patrick Graham, who participated to this project with great enthusiasm and creativity.

A few words on the Franciscan Suite

In 2009, Sylvain-Alexandre Lacas commissioned to Robin Grenon some musical interludes for his theater production: François d’Assise, Exil et tendresse, based on texts by Éloi Leclerc. During the years following this experience, Robin gradually developed these compositions into a more elaborate version for two harps and percussions that became the Franciscan Suite, relating St. Francis of Assise’s trip to Egypt, during the Medieval Crusades, where he attempted an interfaith dialogue with Islam. The last piece represents the Christmas night of 1223 where Francis creates the first Christ Child’s Crib with live actors in Greccio (Italy). This tradition is still alive worldwide in the form of small reproductions of this crib.
